Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn’t go away.
— Philip K. Dick
When Dan Brown, the author of the mega blockbuster The Da Vinci Code, was asked, “Where did you get the idea for this book?” he explained that it came to him when he was studying art history at the University of Seville in Spain.

The Da Vinci Code
There he was exposed to some of the mysteries of the da Vinci paintings. Years later, while he was studying the Vatican Secret Archives, the notion returned to him. He recounts, “This particular story kept knocking on my door until I answered.”
If you are one of the many millions who have enjoyed and been inspired by The Da Vinci Code, you are probably glad that Dan Brown answered the knock. Yet he is not the only person whose door inspiration knocks at. You, too, have ideas, visions, dreams, intuitions, and inklings that keep coming to you. The question is not “Is greatness calling you?” but rather, “Are you answering?”

Mystery of Mona Lisa
A recurring idea or inspiration is quite likely a sign that the universe is trying to get your attention to follow through on it. Your ego, or sense of limited self, might deny and resist the calling with excuses like “I could never do that,” “That would take a far greater person than me,” “That’s never been done,” or “I’m too [old/uneducated/unattractive/poor/unworthy] for such a task.” Yet when the ego has gone through its array of lame defenses and the vision keeps knocking, you may be certain that you are being guided and called.
The difference between those who move the world forward and those who stay stuck in a rut is that the world movers trust the voice that keeps knocking, and they act on it. You can and will be among the movers if you listen to the persistent call of greatness and move with it.
What inspiring idea keeps knocking at the door of your mind? If you were to act on it, what would be the first step you would take?
Greatness is calling to me from within my mind and heart. I heed its call, and the world is better for it.
