Tip:
If you are
suffering from an illness, try to understand it completely and then take
the best treatment.
Here
is why:
It
is an old saying : "If you want to defeat your enemy, gather as
much information about him as you can. "
A
disease is your enemy. It breaks the equilibrium of your physical and
mental health. When you are ill, you can't do anything wholeheartedly.
You can't even meditate properly when you are ill.
Though
it is true that for meditation a healthy body is not a pre-condition,
but sometime (especially in the initial phase) it is important to have a
sound healthy body. The 'self' - witness in you remains unaffected by a
disease as it is not a part of your physical existence. It belongs to
eternal aspect of your being. However, even to know this self', you will
have to take the help of your physical body.
If
you are ill, you will not be able to meditate properly (unless of course
you have been meditating for a long time and have clearly understood the
distinction between body and mind.) When you are ill, the best thing is
to fight this illness successfully and regain your lost health.
For this, it often becomes essential that you to understand your illness
completely. Don't be in the dark about any health problem you are
facing. If you are visiting a doctor regularly, ask him to provide
relevant information about your disease. If that is not possible, do
some research and understand your problem in detail. After all it's your
body. Nobody knows about it better than you.
